Megan McKenna has quit eating lamb after she broke down feeding one on ‘Celebs On The Farm’.
The 25-year-old star – who previously appeared on ‘The Only Way Is Essex’ and ‘Ex on the Beach’ – has taken to Twitter to reveal that the experience of feeding the farm animal with a bottle has led her to reconsider her own diet.
She wrote on the micro-blogging platform: "Can’t explain how upsetting it was getting close to the lambs…. [crying emoji] I haven’t eaten lamb since. (sic)"
During the show, Megan admitted the experience of feeding the lamb had left her feeling distressed.
In fact, she likened the animal to a real-life human baby.
She shared: "I can’t deal. It’s literally like a child. If I could feed my dog with a bottle I would.
"I know it sounds silly about eating meat but when you see them like that … they properly have feelings and stuff. The way it cuddled me. When you buy a lamb shank you don’t think it’s like a baby."
Meanwhile, a TV source previously claimed producers wanted Megan to star on ‘The Farm’ because they were keen to attract younger viewers.
Reflecting on the decision to cast Megan and Charlotte Dawson – the daughter of comedian Les Dawson – the insider explained: "Producers wanted to sign up popular reality stars that have already had huge success on other shows. It was a no-brainer for them to go after Megan McKenna and Charlotte Dawson who have both thrived in countless reality TV programmes.
"They wanted some top names to sex the series up to attract younger viewers, instead of relying on its previous audience. Bosses hope viewers will entertained by the two glamorous women who will be completely out of their comfort zones when knee-deep in manure."
