Megan McKenna wants ‘Celebrity X Factor’ to help push her away from reality TV.
The former ‘The Only Way Is Essex’ star – who has also appeared on the likes of ‘Celebrity Big Brother’, and ‘Celebs Go Dating’ – is keen to move away from television to focus on her music career, and she hopes Simon Cowell’s talent show will be a big step in the right direction.
She told Daily Mirror newspaper’s Diary column: "Hopefully this can be my crossover point, where people stop thinking of me as a reality star and start thinking of me as a musician.
"I want people to see that I’m not just about reality TV – music is what I’ve always wanted to do."
Earlier this year, Megan – who released her debut album ‘Story of Me’ in December last year – confirmed her plans to focus "solely" on her country music.
She told BANG Showbiz at the time: "I’m totally focused on my music at the moment. Don’t get me wrong I’d never say never to doing reality TV but at the moment I want it to be all about my music."
And the 26-year-old beauty previously admitted it has always been her ambition to be a singer and she loves writing songs.
She said: "Writing my own music and singing it is everything I ever wanted.
"People think I’ve just been on reality TV for the last few years but I’ve actually been working on my music behind closed doors.
"It’s hard [to write songs] but I’ve always written things in my diary and my album is so personal that I’m just reliving my experiences and telling my story."
‘Celebrity X Factor’ launches on ITV on Saturday (12.10.19).
