Maya Rudolph: I’m a hippy like Angry Birds’ Matilda

Maya Rudolph has joked she is a "hippy" like her ‘Angry Birds’ character Matilda.
The peace-loving White Bird carries out a hilarious yoga routine in the animated movie and the 43-year-old actress claims she shares many interests and tendencies with the hen.
She said: "I mean, I’m the kind of person to take it tongue in cheek, but I implement a lot of that in my life. I’m healthy as I can when I need to or when I want to, I feel like I have hippy tendencies. Because of exactly what you said, the self-bettering movement is of the moment, I felt it was an over the top, trendy version of it. And that stuff is fun, because she felt like a really big character."
The 43-year-old actress stars alongside Sean Penn, who voiced the part of the large red feathered bird named Terrence, ‘Boom Clap’ hitmaker Charli XCX who stars as Willow, and Danny McBride who depicts as the self-explanatory Bomb.
The ‘Bridesmaids’ star is a professional voice artist – with roles in ‘Big Hero 6’, ‘Turbo’ and ‘The Nut Job’ – and says she has always been inspired by her character’s vocal character first and foremost.
She told HeyUGuys: "I feel like before I realise how my characters come about, the voice is always the first step, for me anyway. I come from a musical background and it’s all part and parcel of the same thing for me. I don’t feel like I have any characters that don’t have a strong specific voice, it’s a natural part of the process."
