Max Bowden has teased there is "a lot of drama" to come for the Mitchells during EastEnders’ 35th anniversary episodes this week.
The epic week of episodes kicked off last night (17.02.20) when the Carters’ boat party descended into chaos as the vessel began sinking on the River Thames, and Max – who plays Ben Mitchell – has warned there is a "a lot of action" to come for his on-screen family.
He said: "The stakes are rising, definitely. Thursday is the Mitchell perspective of our week of the 35th. Callum being in chains, Keanu being back.
"There’s a lot of action to come, a lot of drama."
Viewers recently saw Ben’s dad Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) and Keanu Taylor (Danny Walters) return to Walford, and the pair and Ben look set to clash on the boat.
Speaking to ‘Good Morning Britain’, Max added: "Steve is a powerhouse performer. He is a consummate professional, and ultimately, he just wants to get the best job done.
"The great thing about Steve is he can turn any scene and any partnership to work because h knows exactly how to get the job done.
"He’s always been amazing with me. From the very first time I stepped on set."
‘EastEnders’ director David Kester, who has helmed the anniversary eps, revealed this week that the first three episodes will be the same story told through the eyes of different characters.
He said: "Like every great episode of ‘EastEnders’, they’re dark, complicated but also heart-wrenching in parts as well.
"There are also some hilarious moments as well, there’s a lot of comedy in there.
"Every story that features next week is a big one, because there has been so much build-up to these episodes. All of the different elements come together really well.
"The first three episodes are the same story, told through the eyes of a different set of characters.
"That brought a whole raft of continuity issues for us to think about, so we worked very hard to make sure it all tied together. You see bits and pieces as the week goes along, then it all reaches a massive crescendo on the Friday."
