Max Bowden feels safer on EastEnders set than in supermarket

Max Bowden felt safer on the ‘EastEnders’ set than he did in the supermarket, after resuming filming this week.

The Ben Mitchell actor admitted it was "daunting" heading back to the show’s set following an enforced three-month break, due to the coronavirus pandemic, but he has praised the crew for doing a "phenomenal job in making everything safe".

He said: "I was back yesterday (30.06.20). It was definitely daunting. I felt a bit rusty.

"But it was lovely. I got to see Tony [Clay, who plays Callum Highway]. I think the creatives and the whole team have done a phenomenal job in making everything safe.

"I felt safer there than I did going to the supermarket, which is such a testament to the work they’ve put in to make this work. They’ve done brilliantly."

‘EastEnders’ is currently off air after the soap ran out of episodes due to the break.

The last viewers saw of Ben was him experiencing a tough time as he was left totally deaf following a gun blast next to his head.

And Max has admitted the character could be in an even "worse for wear state" following three months of lockdown.

Speaking on ‘Good Morning Britain’, he added: "Ben’s head has been all over the place, and now to encompass that with a three-month lockdown he is certainly going to be in a worse for wear state.

"So I’m hoping for more positives with Ben."

‘EastEnders’ are planning to touch on the pandemic in new scripts, but according to Jake Wood – who plays Max Branning – they will not be "drawing too much attention to it".
