Maura Higgins was in ‘big trouble’ for being ‘really drunk’ on Love Island

Maura Higgins got in "big trouble" with ‘Love Island’ bosses for getting "really drunk" during the series.
The 28-year-old model has revealed she once slyly downed her fellow Islanders’ alcoholic beverages and replaced them with water, resulting in all of them being punished for her actions.
She said: "I should never tell, but I’m gonna.
"Some nights you get one glass of wine, some nights you get two, you either get a choice of beer or wine, I always choose wine.
"One night I went into the larder, where the drinks get prepared, and there’s like a water dispenser there. I went in before everyone else and I downed everyone’s wine and I filled it up with water.
"And I got in really big trouble. The whole island got punished the following night because I got really drunk. I shouldn’t have probably said that. I’ll get in big trouble now."
Maura also revealed the Islanders were treated to McDonald’s twice a week, and she divulged that some scenes were re-shot if producers weren’t happy with them.
During a Q&A on Ireland’s ‘The Late Late Show’ Instagram account, she said: "If a text came through and you weren’t as loud, or if you stumbled on your words you’d have to re-take obviously.
"Because, I mean, some words I’d say wrong and I’d have to do it again. Which happened a lot actually."
Former ‘Love Island’ winner Kem Cetinay revealed this year that the Islanders are allowed a day off a week where their microphones are taken off them, but they aren’t allowed to speak about the show itself during that time.
He said: "When you’re in there, they give you one day off, so you get one day a week.
"It gives them a day to clean the whole villa, you take your mics off and normally we go to the beach and we just chill out.
"Not a lot of people know this.
"So what happens is when you take the microphone off you’re not allowed to talk about anything to do with the show or the couples, you have to talk about home life.
"And you’re being watched by an eagle hawk, by the producers, because they don’t want you to talk about what’s going on."
