Matthew McConaughey’s wife misses the fuller figure he sported for ‘Gold’.
The 47-year-old actor says Camila Alves liked his larger tummy after he gained weight for his role in the thriller movie.
He told The Ellen DeGeneres Show: "It was a whole lot of McConaughey. That’s cheeseburgers and beer for eight months whenever I wanted them …
"I learned that the only thing that makes you tired from overindulging is the thought of quitting. I never got tired. I slept great, I had great energy … My nickname in the household was Captain Fun. My wife [Camila] misses all 217 pounds of me, and the kids do too, because it was pizza night any night."
Meanwhile, the ‘Dallas Buyers Club’ star previously admitted he was worried his wife was going to refuse his proposal when he got down on one knee.
Matthew – who has been married to Camila since 2012 – shared: "I remember hitting the knee, looking into her eyes. I remember her face. I remember this smile coming up from her feet. I remember her having to catch her breath. And she didn’t say yes right away. And then the whole family was going, ‘Jeezus, she’s gonna say no.’"
And the Hollywood hunk – who has Levi, eight, Vida, six, and Livingston, three, with Camila – doesn’t feel his career would be as successful without the support of his family.
He added: "A good woman gives a man courage and confidence. Man is never more masculine than after the birth of his first child. I don’t mean in a macho way. I mean in terms of giving a man strength."
