Matthew McConaughey wants more comic roles

Matthew McConaughey wants to make more comedies.
The Oscar-winning actor was largely known for his work on light-hearted love tales such as ‘Fool’s Gold’, ‘How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days’ and ‘Failure to Launch’ in the 2000s, before finding critical acclaim with his later movies like ‘Killer Joe’, ‘Dallas Buyers Club’ and ‘The Lincoln Lawyer’.
And while Matthew doesn’t know if he’ll go back to making romances again, he does want to make people laugh with his work.
He said "I usually don’t my make choices reacting on thinking what someone might want. I mean there’s plenty of great escapism out there. I’ve been trying to choose things that turn me on, and comedy does turn me on.
"So I’m looking forward to doing more comedy again. I don’t know if it’s going to be a romantic comedy, but all comedy interests me, and I want to make them again."
The 47-year-old star – who has children Levi, eight, Vida, six, and Livingston, three, with wife Camila Alves – next features in ‘Sing’, in which he voices koala Buster Moon, and admitted both this role and his other most recent project, stop-motion family fantasy ‘Kubo and the Two Strings’, have impressed his kids.
He told Vanity Fair: "Part of the reason why I wanted to do animated films was to make something that my kids can see.
"I have been looking for something animated for years and actually never got hired. This came along at the right time. I’ve got three kids, and I love watching them watch animated movies. I pick up at what they laugh at, and I note it down.
"Doing ‘Kubo’ and ‘Sing’, I’ve got a little more clout around the house."
