Matthew McConaughey surprises students with lift home

Matthew McConaughey surprised a group of students by driving them home in a golf cart.
The ‘Dallas Buyers Club’ star picked up pupils from the University of Texas – where he graduated from in 1993 with a degree in Radio, Television and Film – in the vehicle and transported them back to their apartments on Monday night (28.11.16) as part of a volunteering scheme.
Captioning an image of the 47-year-old star driving the group in a golf buggy, the university posted on Facebook: "Longhorns take care of each other, and it’s ‘safe’ to say Matthew McConaughey agrees. Don’t forget to use SURE Walk when traveling home late at night; you never know who might pick you up! #BeSafe #SafeChats (sic)"
A post on their Instagram account read: "Look who gave some students a ride home last night?
As part of SURE Walk, Distinguished Alumnus Matthew McConaughey, BS ’93, volunteered to help students make it home safely from campus. (sic)"
The Hollywood actor gave up his time for SURE Walk, an initiative which started life as a buddy walking programme to help students get home safely, and has since expanded to include golf carts.
The Texas University Union used Matthew’s generosity to promote the scheme, and encouraged others to get a lift back on it at night.
They shared the same picture and captioned the image: "Are you SURE you don’t want to take a SURE Walk home? You never know when #MatthewMcConaughey might be your ride. He gave a ride to some lucky students last night! New SURE Walk hours are 7p.m.-2a.m. every day! (sic)"
In July, a post on the university’s Facebook account revealed Matthew would be returning to the educational establishment to co-teach a film class alongside ‘Hunger Games’ director Gary Ross.
It read: "He’s in the movies. He’s on the field. Now, Matthew McConaughey is in the classroom."
