‘The Great British Bake Off’ co-host Matt Lucas has an intolerance to cheese.
The 46-year-old comedian – who will replace Sandi Toksvig on the next series – dislikes the taste and smell of the dairy-based product, and admitted it makes him sick.
During Vice’s virtual ‘End of the World Dinner Party’, he said: "I really, really, really don’t like it. I have an intolerance to it – it makes me sick.
"I don’t like the taste or the smell. I can’t eat it – it makes me feel very ill."
The ‘Little Britain’ co-creator was announced as the latest presenter on the Channel 4 cooking competition after Sandi revealed she would be stepping down from her co-host role alongside Noel Fielding to work on other projects.
She said in a statement: "When stepping down from a job it is quite common for people to say they are doing so in order to spend more time with their family.
"Unusually I am departing from ‘The Great British Bake Off’ so I can spend more time with my other work.
"As my waistline will testify, ‘Bake Off’ is an all-consuming show."
Matt’s appointment has gone down well, with Noel admitting he and Matt could become a new version of clay characters Chas and Morph.
Noel said: "I love Matt. I love his warmth and his comedy and his big joyful smile. I think if we play our cards right we could become the next Chas and Morph."
