Matt Lucas confirms Little Britain comeback

Matt Lucas has confirmed ‘Little Britain’ is to make a comeback.
The 46-year-old actor – who wrote and starred in the comedy with David Walliams – revealed the sketch show will return after the co-writers have used the coronavirus lockdown to plan their next steps.
Appearing on ‘The One Show’ on Thursday (02.04.20), Matt admitted: "We message each other most days and send each other those silly memes everybody sends. We’re getting on well and thinking what we can do with ‘Little Britain’.
"We don’t know what it will be. Could it be a podcast? A series on TV? A stage show?
"Also, he’s very busy doing ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ and writing his books."
The comedy duo originally aired the show on BBC Radio 4 in 2000 before moving to the BBC as a TV series which ran for three series from 2003 to 2005, and won back-to-back BAFTAs for Best Comedy Performance.
Since filming wrapped on ‘Little Britain’ both David and Matt have landed other roles on ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ and ‘The Great British Bake Off’ respectively.
Matt told BBC presenter Alex Scott: "I’ve got another job booked that you’ll know about Alex.
"We’ve just got to find the time. We definitely will do. We just don’t know how."
The pair were recently in talks with Netflix about the possibility of bringing the programme to the streaming giant, after they reportedly offered £3 million for new episodes.
Matt admitted there has been some interest.
He said: "It might happen. We had a conversation with them a while ago so the seed was planted in our heads.
"We’d love to bring it back in some way at some point.
"We’re both quite busy boys but we’re speaking often (to each other) and one idea was to maybe do a stage show of it again…
"We don’t know. It may come back. I think it will come back in some form. We’re just still figuring out what that will be."
