Mary Berry’s new show is still in the ’embryo stage’

Mary Berry’s new cooking show is still in the "embryo stage."
The 82-year-old culinary queen will be back on screens next year to judge on the BBC’s forthcoming eight-part series ‘Britain’s Best Cook’ but, although bosses have already decided that Claudia Winkleman will be the host, nothing else is in place.
Speaking exclusively to BANG Showbiz at the TV Choice Awards in London on Monday (04.09.17), Mary said: "The new show at the BBC is still in the embryo stage, we haven’t done any development yet.
"Claudia is terrific and we’ll be a good team, we’ve still got to find another judge. It’s to find the best home cook, it’s not baking"
The show will "test the real-life expertise of truly great home cooks" as amateur chefs are pitted against each other while they show the nation the different dishes they make their loved ones in the kitchen every single day.
This will be Mary’s first show to air on the BBC since she announced she was stepping down from her judging role on the ‘Great British Bake Off’ last year after the rights to the format were snatched from the broadcaster by Channel 4 in a mega-money deal.
The ‘GBBO’ has already debuted on its new network and fans have so far fallen in love with Mary’s replacement Prue Leith, who has joined Paul Hollywood on the panel.
Mary said: "She’s very tall, she’s doing her own style, she looks wonderful."
And the legendary baker has even tuned in to the show to see how good it is.
She explained: "I’ve seen bits of the new ‘Bake Off’, it’s a wonderful format, they have followed it just the same, it’s got the same energy, brilliant bakers.
"Prue will be an excellent judge, she knows her stuff, it will go well."
