Mary Berry thinks GBBO will last years

Mary Berry thinks ‘Great British Bake Off’ will stay on screen for years.
The 82-year-old baking expert may have stepped down as a judge from the show when it moved from the BBC to Channel 4 for the current series, but she’s still a fan and thinks the format is a winning formula that will always appeal to audiences.
She said: "I think ‘Bake Off’ will keep going because the format is so good, there’s no bad language, and it encourages people."
When Mary left the show, her co-judge Paul Hollywood opted to stay but his friend doesn’t hold a grudge, though she hasn’t seen him for some time.
She said "I adore Paul, but he’s been busy doing his car shows and our paths haven’t crossed."
She may not be on ‘Bake Off’ any more, but Mary is still keeping busy, and is looking forward to working with Claudia Winkleman, who will present the upcoming show she is to be a judge on, ‘Britain’s Best Cook’.
She said: "I chose [Claudia] but we’re still in the early stages and haven’t even decided who the other judge will be yet."
When Mary gets some time off, she enjoys a quiet night in front of the TV with her husband Paul.
She said "I’m pathetic – I just watch things I know I’ll enjoy like ‘Call the Midwife’ and ‘Antiques Roadshow’.
"I hate seeing sex and violence in dramas – I don’t watch shows like that, but obviously someone must like them.
"I love ‘Strictly’ but I only ever watch half an episode while I’m clearing up dinner. Then I go and sit with my husband and I can’t finish the show then because he thinks it is dreadful."
