Mary Berry’s new cooking show won’t feature fancy dishes.
The 83-year-old TV presenter is co-hosting ‘Britain’s Best Home Cook’ alongside Claudia Winkleman, but she’s admitted the programme won’t include anything "frightfully complicated".
She said: "We don’t want complicated recipes or too many ingredients because they’re not achievable.
"If you think of your friends who cook, the most amazing meals are not necessarily frightfully complicated. They are often simple things beautifully done, when every texture, flavour and sauce is sheer perfection."
The new show is set to premiere next Thursday (03.05.18) and Mary will star on the judging panel alongside lesser-known experts Chris Bavin and Dan Doherty.
Mary recently revealed she was once mistakenly arrested on suspicion of drug trafficking.
The veteran star – who is best known for her role on ‘The Great British Bake Off’ – was detained by US customs officials after they found clear plastic bags of white powder in her luggage.
However, she was carrying nothing stronger than baking ingredients, such as flour and sugar.
She shared: "I was arrested 25 years ago. I was going to the US to do some cookery demonstrations and was worried that there might be problems so I weighed out all the ingredients – flour, sugar – and put them all in
little plastic bags. When I arrived at the airport the sniffer dogs made a bee-line for me.
"Suddenly I was surrounded by uniformed people and my assistant and I were put in separate cells. It was alarming. When I was asked if was going to make money from the stuff, I said, ‘I do and my fee has already been agreed.’ "
