Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood go head-to-head for Best Judge at National Television Awards 2017

Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood will battle it out to be crowned Best TV Judge at the National Television Awards 2017.
The ‘Great British Bake Off’ duo have always worked as a team on the cooking show right up until it was announced they are to go their separate ways after Channel 4 snatched the rights to the programme from the BBC last month.
Tensions are already running high as the 50-year-old silverfox has agreed to stay as a judge on the series when it shifts channels later this year, while the 81-year-old culinary queen has decided to quit her role out of "loyalty" to the BBC.
And it seems the pressure to outdo one another is set to step up a notch now that they’ve been pitted against each other in the long list for the ceremony in January.
However, the pair – who have worked together on ‘GBBO’ for six years – won’t just face stiff competition from each other as Simon Cowell and Len Goodman are also in the running for the prize.
Despite the backlash ‘GBBO’ has received since Channel 4 bought the rights for £75million, the series is up for a trophy in the Best Challenge Show category.
However, it’s not alone as ‘Love Island’, ‘MasterChef’, ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’ and ‘The Apprentice’ are also fighting to scoop the gong.
Simon’s ITV shows ‘The X Factor’ and ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ have made it into the Best Talent Show category, but so has his long-time rival ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
‘Marcella’, ‘Happy Valley’, ‘Silent Witness’, ‘The Fall’, ‘Cold Feet’ and ‘Scott & Bailey’ are hoping to score Best Drama, while ‘Victoria’, ‘Call the Midwife’ and ‘Poldark’ want Best Period Drama.
Jamie Dornan, Jenna Coleman, James Nesbitt, Tom Hiddleston and Emilia Fox have made it into the Best Drama Performance category for their performances in ‘The Fall, ‘Victoria’, ‘Cold Feet’, ‘The Night Manager’ and ‘Silent Witness’, respectively.
‘Emmerdale’s Danny Miller will go up against EastEnders’ Danny Dyer and Lacey Turer for Best Serial Drama Performance, as they are joined by Hollyoaks’ Jennifer Metcalfe and Jessica Fox and ‘Coronation Street’s Jack P Shepherd and Ben Price.
The shortlist will be announced at the beginning of January and the awards will take place on January 25 at London’s O2 Arena.
