Martin Bashir has teased his "uplifting" performance on ‘The X Factor: Celebrity’ this Saturday (26.10.19).
The 56-year-old journalist will be back on the revamped ITV talent show this weekend and has revealed he’s performing a "classic" tune featured in many films for the first live round.
Appearing on ‘This Morning’ on Thursday (24.10.19), he shared: "I will be helped on stage by a large number of people.
"When you see the performance, it will be uplifting.
"It’s a classic piece that has been used in several movies."
The broadcaster also praised the "incredible" support from the vocal coaches, who have helped him get his vocals up to scratch.
He said: "I’ve been a vocalist for four weeks and on Saturday I’m going from nothing to an audience of millions.
"We’ve been helped by our vocal coaches.
"They’ve enabled me to focus much more on the rhythm, pitch and performance."
Martin admits that he will only have himself to blame if he is eliminated from the competition.
He said: "It is a demanding process but the coaching has been incredible. If I do badly, it’ll be entirely down to myself."
The reporter came to prominence for his BBC interview with the late Diana, Princess of Wales, and then his fly-on-the-wall documentary with late King of Pop Michael Jackson on ITV.
However, he insisted his ‘X Factor’ bow will be more nerve-wracking.
He told hosts Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford: "It’s going to be worse (than interviewing Princess Diana). I didn’t conduct that interview in front of anyone apart from a cameraman, soundman and producer.
"There are going to be over 400 people in the studio. I’ve got to remember lighting cues and camera movements. I have to make certain moves."
