Marian Keyes ‘grateful’ for Coronation Street nod

Marian Keyes was "immensely grateful" to be mentioned on ‘Coronation Street’.
The 56-year-old author – who has penned the likes of ‘Watermelon’, ‘Anybody Out There’ and ‘This Charming Man’ – was referenced three times during Wednesday’s (05.02.20) episode of the ITV soap as Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard) and Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) brought her up during a conversation about the latter trying to become a writer.
After viewers flocked to social media in excitement over the surprise mention, Marian tweeted numerous heart emojis and wrote: "My very talented friend @JOJEHARVEY wrote tonight’s Corrie episode.
"He is the reason I got all the mentions. THANK you Joje, I am IMMENSELY GRATEFUL (sic)"
In the scenes, Daniel asked Bethany if she’d sent off her application for the writing course she was thinking of joining, but she insisted it wasn’t easy to quit your job and become the next Marian Keyes.
Viewers were delighted by the best-selling author receiving a nod, and they took to Twitter to voice their approval.
One fan tweeted: "@MarianKeyes three mentions on Corrie tonight! Who wouldn’t love to be the next Marian Keyes? (sic)"
Another added: "’So I’m supposed to pack it all in and become the next Marian Keyes…’ Fame is when you are mentioned on Coronation street!!! @MarianKeyes @itvcorrie (sic)"
And one viewer teased: "@MarianKeyes You’ve really hit the big time. They’re referencing you on Coronation street (sic)"
