Mariah Carey is getting into the festive spirit

Mariah Carey has put her Christmas tree up early.
The 48-year-old singer went hunting for a festive fir with her six-year-old children Moroccan and Monroe – who she has with her ex-husband Nick Cannon – in New York over the weekend, and she joined her twins and boyfriend Bryan Tanaka in adorning the tree with baubles and other decorations.
And the ‘All I Went For Christmas’ hitmaker found the moment she completed decorating the tree "very exciting", because she and her family usually undergo the ritual later in December when they head for Aspen, Colorado, for the festive period.
Speaking in a video posted to Instagram, which captured Mariah standing in front of a projector while her beau adds the finishing touches to the tree, she said: "We are decorating the tree. It’s very exciting because usually we wait until we go to Aspen, and then we just absorb the moments and maybe decorate the tree."
And the vocalist is already feeling "festive".
She continued: "But this year it is December 2, no 3rd, and this is festive. (sic)."
Mariah captioned the post: "Trimming our tree! #festive (sic)."
This news comes shortly after Mariah revealed she was on a "mission" to find the perfect Christmas tree while she was in New York.
A separate post, which captures Mariah cuddling her children while standing beside her preferred tree, was captioned: "We found our #nyc tree!!
"On a mission to get a Christmas tree in New York! #demkids#Christmas (sic)."
Christmas is Mariah’s favourite time of the year, and she previously admitted she spends "all year" waiting to decorate her home for the season.
She said: "All year long I just wait and I look forward to cooking and just like decorating the Christmas tree. I have a few different Christmas trees, and we decorate some of them and some of them there’s a lady that helps us with that, and then there’s one that the kids and I do together with my extended family and friends."
