Marc Elliott saved sister’s life after watching Casualty

Marc Elliott saved his sister’s life after learning first aid while watching ‘Casualty’ 23 years ago.
The 36-year-old actor – who has joined the medical drama’s sister show ‘Holby City’ as new surgeon Issac Mayfield – believes he owes a lot to the BBC One programme because it taught him how to stop a bleed after his twin accidentally pushed her hand through a glass window when they were 13.
Speaking to the Daily Mirror newspaper, he said: "My twin sister had an accident when we were 13, and from that moment I’ve been bad with blood. We were playing and she accidentally stuck her hand through a window, severing her nerves, arteries and tendons. But because I’d watched ‘Casualty’, I knew how to stop the bleeding. I applied pressure with a J Cloth and held it. When the ambulance came, paramedics said: ‘You couldn’t have done anything better.’ "
The handsome star recently set pulses racing when he rocked up on screen as the dishy doctor in ‘Holby City’.
And, although he’s only just joined the show, he’s certainly not short of air time as his alter-ego is set to get caught up in a turbulent relationship when he catches the inquisitive eye of cheeky practitioner Dominic Copeland (David Ames).
Meanwhile, Marc – who has been forced to chop off his straggly locks for the new part – has been off the radar for four years after he quit ‘EastEnders’ in 2012 following three-and-a-half years portraying gay Muslim Syed Masood.
