After beginning with a minute’s silence to remember the victims of the terror attack and a poignant performance by Marcus Mumford it was down to Manchester group Take That to set an uplifting tone for the night.
Gary Barlow, Mark Owen and Howard Donald opened with ‘Let It Shine’ to huge cheers and then played their latest single ‘Giants’.
But it was their final track, ‘Rule The World’, which drew the biggest cheers and took on new meaning as an anthem for Manchester on the night.
