Malin Andersson reveals eating disorder

Malin Andersson opened up about battling an eating disorder.

The 27-year-old television star – who rose to fame on the second series of ‘Love Island’ – confessed she used to make herself sick after eating in order to remain slim and only stopped when she confided in her mum about her illness.

Sharing a photo, from her days as a flight attendant, on Instagram, she penned: "I wasn’t born here, on this earth to starve. My mum didn’t carry me for 9 months to watch her daughter fight an eating disorder for 8 years. The pain in her eyes when I told her I had been spewing my food wasn’t worth being skinny.

"But it was. At that very moment, I didn’t care who I hurt. I didn’t care about hurting my body. I just wanted to be thin."

In her late teens, Malin believed she needed to be thin to be "glamorous" as part of her job as an air stewardess, but the disease caused her to pass out throughout her shift and left her feeling anxious.

She continued: "This photo is me at 18 joining Virgin Atlantic. I was meant to be seen as a glamorous air stewardess but I wasn’t. I starved my way through my flight attendant years, restricting myself so much I would faint on layovers.

"I can hardly remember my beautiful trips abroad.. I only remember being hungry and suffering. I would constantly feel dizzy and anxious."

The brunette beauty explained how she spent the majority of her teenage years alone in her room obsessing over her weight, and is now determined to help others feeling the same as her to reach out for help.

She added: "I was a lonely teen, I was left alone with obsessing over my weight and I hid it pretty well. I didn’t socialise as much as I should of and I turned down some amazing things.

"Please understand this is why I am so passionate about body image, and why I flood your TL with it. I know there are so many of you suffering and I want to help ease that … I have tagged some places to help. Try and reach out if you can. That’s the first step to freedom."
