Major Lazer’s Walshy Fire becomes main vocalist for track

Major Lazer’s Walshy Fire has become the main vocalist on a track for the first time.
The ‘Cold Water’ hitmaker has teamed up with Swedish EDM star Garmiani for their new single ‘Voodoo’ and aside from recording his voice on the intro and outro of the group’s previous track ‘Too Original’, this song is the only one with his vocals all the way through.
Talking about the single, Walshy exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "There is another song I did with Major Lazer called ‘Too Original’ and on that song I also did vocals, but nothing like this. That one was the intro and the outro and this one I am the vocals on the song."
Garmiani is thrilled to be a part of Walshy’s vocal debut.
He said: "I love the fact I was the first producer to record Walshy on a track because he is the main MC in Major Lazer, but this his debut as a vocal recording artist."
Walshy says doing the song has opened up the possibility of doing more vocal work in the future.
He said: "I think it is a new expansion for me and who knows where it could lead. I am really excited about it."
Meanwhile, Major Lazer – also comprised of Diplo and Jillionaire – have new music coming out in January and one of the songs is a collaboration with rapper PartyNextDoor.
Walshy said: "We will drop that song in January and we are doing an afro-beats song too."
‘Voodoo’ is out now.
