Richard Jones has saved his £250,000 ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ winnings.
The 26-year-old magician has admitted he has still managed to keep hold of the whopping sum he was rewarded with one year after being crowned champion of the competition on last year’s series, and has only dipped it into the prize money to buy his sister a designer handbag.
In addition to scooping the jackpot, he has also performed at the ‘Royal Variety Performance’ in front of HRH Prince Charles.
In an exclusive interview with BANG Showbiz, he said: "I bought my sister a Michael Kors handbag – it’s the one she wanted. When I went for my first audition I think it was just by pure chance, I think she was shopping that day, and said if you win will you get me this handbag and I didn’t think I’d win but obviously I had to get the handbag."
However, Richard hasn’t even been tempted to go on a shopping spree of his own to spend all of his cash..
He said: "That’s all [I’ve bought]. I haven’t really bought anything with the prize money yet. I’ve not really had time to think about it, the only thing I’m thinking about at the minute is building on things and making sure everything is going well for the show. I haven’t really had time to sit back and think about the winnings or anything yet."
And he is in no rush to dwindle his finances any time soon.
He added: "I don’t want to waste it, I want to make sure I use it in a positive way to carry on what I’m doing magic-wise, showcasing my [talents]."
Meanwhile, Richard is busy touring as part his new magic show ‘Power of Imagination’ this April/May, and has landed his own one-off special ‘Richard Jones’ Operation Magic’, which is expected to air shortly before ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ next series later this Spring.
