M.I.A wants to leak her album

M.I.A is tempted to leak her new album online.
The ‘Paper Planes’ hitmaker previously revealed she doesn’t know whether or not the record, which was called ‘Matahdatah’, will ever be released in the US by her label Interscope because she doesn’t have a visa to enter America any more.
And now M.I.A has told fans she’s tempted to unofficially release her new collection of songs.
According to Pitchfork, she has also decided to change the name of the eagerly-anticipated LP, which was to be called ‘Matahdatah’.
During a Periscope session, she said: "I would love to leak it.
"I wake up every day and think I’m gonna leak it."
However, M.I.A – whose real name is Mathangi ‘Maya’ Arulpragasam – is wary of irrecoverably damaging her relationship with her record label as she hopes when the album does come out it will be a success.
She said: "I can always do that for the rest of my life. If I carry on making music, then I would do that, but I also want to find an album where I can actually make my label work for me."
Last week, the 40-year-old rapper-and-singer stated the LP will be her "last" album because of her visa situation.
Taking to her Twitter account, she wrote: "I am handing my last LP in to my American label this week. It’ll be up to them if its released. I don’t have visa 4 states to promote or spk (sic)"
Despite previously being based in New York City for a couple of years, the London-born songwriter – whose parents are Sri Lankan – has US visa problems because of her politically charged lyrics and her dad’s alleged links to the Tamil Tigers militant group.
M.I.A was previously engaged to American Benjamin Bronfman – the son of Warner Music CEO Edgar Bronfman Jr – and their seven-year-old son Ikhyd was born in Los Angeles.
She previously released two singles from the forthcoming album, ‘Borders’ and ‘Rewear It’.
The eagerly-anticipated record will be a follow-up to 2013’s ‘Matangi’.
