Lucy Fallon isn’t planning to leave Coronation Street ‘any time soon’

Coronation Street’s Lucy Fallon isn’t planning to leave "any time soon."
Fans were convinced the 21-year-old actress has quit the long-running soap last week when her alter-ego Bethany Platt refused to return to Weatherfield with her mum Sarah (Tina O’Brien) and Gary Windass (Mikey North) following a family trip to Milan, but the blonde beauty has teased that it’s not the end for her just yet.
Speaking exclusively to BANG Showbiz at the Inside Soap Awards, held at London’s iconic Hippodrome Casino, on Monday (06.11.17), she said: "I’m hoping to stay on there for a little bit longer. I’m not ready to leave any time soon and hopefully they don’t kill me off or anything so I can stay on there for longer. I love being on there.
"I’ve really landed on my feet working with the Platt family, I think it’s definitely the best family to be with – no offence to any of the other families."
But it’s hardly surprising that bosses have decided to give Lucy – who was crowned Best Actress at the glamorous ceremony last night – some time off as she has just finished filming a harrowing child grooming storyline.
She said: "I would’ve been happy with any kind of storyline as a young, new, actress who hasn’t properly had a job before but to have that storyline was amazing – especially that they trusted me to do something so harrowing. Although ti was harrowing, it was eye-opening. It’s not me that have gone through it, it’s those people we spoke to. I was really excited to do it because I wanted to raise awareness."
Lucy’s family and boyfriend Tom Leech refused to watch the show when she was playing the victim but they’ve finally caught up on the storyline and are so proud of her.
She explained: "They have watched it now. My boyfriend watched the court stuff and some of the stuff with Neil but, obviously, it’s difficult for them because they’re seeing me not the character. My mum definitely watched it. She watches it every night. She watches it all the time. She was buzzing when I got the job. I rung her and told her and she couldn’t believe it."
