Lucie Jones will represent the UK at the ‘Eurovision Song Contest’.
The 25-year-old singer beat off competition from five other former ‘X Factor’ flops on the 90-minute selection show, ‘Eurovision: You Decide’, on BBC Two on Friday (27.01.17), to be chosen to perform at the competition in Ukraine, in May.
Lucie’s song ‘Never Give Up On You’ impressed the judging panel, comprised of ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ judge Bruno Tonioli, pop beauty Sophie Ellis-Bextor and vocal mentor CeCe Sammy, at London’s Hammersmith Apollo.
Sophie said: "The real magic in that performance was you, Lucie," while Bruno added: "It was magic, just beautiful."
And CeCe said: "Incredible voice. You summed up what Eurovision is about!"
Lucie also won over the public, who voted for her to represent the UK at the annual competition, which sees countries in Europe go head-to-head.
Lucie said: "I can’t believe you picked me. Thank you so much!"
Lucie competed against Daryl Johnson, who also appeared on ‘The X Factor’ in 2009, Olivia Garcia and Nate Simpson, who made it to the Judges’ Houses stage of the competition last year, and Salena Mastroianni.
Also joining them was Holly Brewer, who was the wedding singer at ‘Our Girl’ star Michelle Keegan, 29, and 30-year-old former ‘The Only Way Is Essex’ hunk Mark Wright’s wedding in May 2015.
