Theo Campbell may have damaged his athletics career by appearing on ‘Love Island’.
The 25-year-old heartthrob – who is a 400m sprinter and is part of the Great Britain Olympic team – set pulses racing when he arrived in the famous villa in Mallorca, Spain, last night (05.07.17) but it looks like he may have landed himself in hot water as he didn’t inform the British Athletics that he would be taking part in the hit ITV show.
A British Athletics spokesman told the Mirror Online: "British Athletics was unaware of Theo Campbell’s participation in this reality TV show.
"With the IAAF World Championships in London just a month away, we would expect all those in contention for selection to be 100 per cent focused on their training and preparations to compete against the world’s best athletes."
The news that he’s infuriated the British Athletics will no doubt hit him hard when he returns from the abode as he recently admitted that he’s been involved in the sport for six years and is hoping to take part in the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, Japan.
Speaking in his tape, he said: "I’ve been doing athletics for six years, I’m in Team GB, the 4 x 400m Relay team. The main target in my eyes is the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo."
Meanwhile, this isn’t the first time the romantic show has wreaked havoc for a contestant’s career as Zara Holland had her Miss Great Britain title ripped away from her last year after she had sex on camera with Alex Bowen.
She said recently: "If I had my time on the show again I would definitely do things differently. I wouldn’t have sex for a start. It’s so hypocritical that everyone around me was at it like rabbits but I was the one who lost everything. And I only had sex once, in a private room, under the covers. I regret it. So my advice to this year’s islanders is think before you do it. It could haunt you for the rest of your career."
