Nathan Massey says Caroline Flack was "like one of the Islanders".
The 25-year-old former ‘Love Island’ winner has paid tribute to the programme’s host – just two days after she was found dead at her home on Saturday (15.02.20) – reflecting on how she used to "have a laugh" with the ITV2 show’s contestants behind the scenes.
Speaking on ITV’s ‘Good Morning Britain’, Nathan – who won the ITV2 dating show alongside wife Cara De La Hoyde in 2016 – said: "[She was] just someone when the cameras were off, she’d be like one of the Islanders, you know what I mean?
"Having a laugh with us, we’d just all have a good laugh."
Nathan described Caroline as a "bubbly, fantastic diamond" and recalled one moment where she made him "feel welcome" after a glitzy award ceremony.
He said: "She was good as gold. We had a laugh on and off camera, she was always bubbly, a good laugh.
"We were at an award ceremony, I was ready to go home. She was like, ‘Where you going Nath?’ I said, ‘I’m going home, I’ve had too many beers.’
"She said, ‘No, come out with … take you to Groucho.’ Being a young lad off a building site, to get to go to Groucho – she made me feel welcome."
His comments come after ‘Love Island’ bosses decided not to air the current winter series on Sunday night (16.02.20) following the tragic news.
Producers chose to postpone the next episode until tonight (17.02.20),where a tribute to Caroline will be included.
