Love Island’s Mike Boateng quit police to join dating show

Mike Boateng has quit the police force to join ‘Love Island’.
The 24-year-old police officer left his job with the Greater Manchester Police to search for romance in the cast of the first-ever winter edition, but the chief constable is willing to him back in after his time on the ITV2 dating show if he behaves himself on TV.
He told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre TV column: "Luckily I spoke with the chief, Ian Hopkins. He has left the door open for me to come back if I want to."
During his time on the force, Mike – who has admitted the message is "don’t do anything stupid" – learned a few skills that could help him make a few friends and reach the finale.
Speaking about his most dangerous situations on the job, he told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "I prefer talking people down … We end up being marriage counsellors."
Mike was also apart of the squad that dealt with the aftermath of the Manchester arena bombing in 2017.
He recalled: "I wasn’t actually a first respondent, but I did work the days after that so I dealt with the aftermath – it was horrible. I was patrolling the areas, making sure everyone was all okay. It was more patrolling the areas, and making sure everyone is all right."
Meanwhile, the Islander is set to make hearts race with his charm and competent manner.
He said: "My charm and my character. I’m a very personable person so I’m easy to approach and I’m hoping that’ll make it easy for me to speak to a girl and connect with her. "
And the smooth talker is determined to meet his match, even if it means stepping "on a few toes" to get the girl he wants.
He added: "I’m going in to the villa to find love. If that means stepping on a few toes, burning a few bridges and finding the love of my life, I’m willing to do it."
