Love Island’s Hayley Hughes claims that she had a health scare whilst she was in the villa but it wasn’t shown on TV.
The blonde babe was the first contestant to lose her spot on the ITV2 show after failing to couple up with one of the hunks.
Hayley has now opened up about her battle with illness on the programme after becoming so dehydrated she needed to be put on a drip by on-site medics at the Majorca villa, however, her struggle was not shown by producers.
And although she wanted to just recuperate in bed, Hayley forced herself to get up and join in with the activities with the others because she was worried she would lose out on all-important screen time.
In an interview with the Daily Star newspaper, she said: "I was really unwell in the villa. I was sick and stuck in bed. I was vomiting. Really sick.
"But you know ‘Love Island’ is not there to show you being ill. You can’t expect them to put you on the screen when you’re unwell. You have to make sure you are perky and active. I made myself get out of bed. I needed to get up. It’s not like when you’re at home and you can stay in bed and get better. I felt I needed to get out of bed and be active so you get more interest."
Hayley claims she isn’t the only contestant to have forced themselves to put on a brave face when ill for the sake of staying on the show, however, she is adamant that no one working behind the scenes on ‘Love Island made her get out of bed and participate and she has nothing but thanks for the way producers treated her.
She added: "Obviously they’re wanting to make a good show and it was a shame on the last week that I felt I couldn’t really deliver to my maximum."
Viewers would have seen Samira Mighty sporting a large plaster on her elbow in recent episodes, which would suggest she has suffered some sort of minor injury but how that happened was not shown on TV.
A show spokesman said: "Any minor sickness complaints are dealt with by our on-site medical team."
