Love Island’s Georgia Steel and Sam Bird have split up.
The 20-year-old drama student has been banging on for the past two weeks about how "loyal" she is when she’s getting to know someone new, but her morals went out the window in last night’s (16.07.18) episode when she and the hunk agreed to go their separate ways in order to continue their journey in the villa after they were faced with an ultimatum – stay together and leave the island or split up and date other people.
After the pair told host Caroline Flack that they had decided to split up to "test" their relationship and "prove the public and villa wrong", they were told they were no longer allowed to canoodle and had to go on dates with two new people before a recoupling.
Speaking to his new date, Sam said: "Yeah, I get what you’re saying. This is what it’s all about. Do you know what I mean? Right now, technically, I am single right now!"
And Georgia seemed to get over her split relatively quickly as well as she told her date: "No, I haven’t been forced into a situation because I could have left if I wanted to. But we weren’t boyfriend and girlfriend. Do you know what I mean? And when you date people, you date other people at the same time because you want to know who you want to be with. Me and Sam aren’t together. We’ve been coupled up for two weeks!"
But, although Sam and Georgia believed their decision was for the best because at least they get to remain in the villa together – despite being banned from coupling up – their friends Dani Dyer and Jack Fincham weren’t so impressed with their reasoning.
Dani – the daughter of actor Danny Dyer – has grown close to Georgia in the villa but her behaviour of late led to the barmaid telling her to shove her friendship up her "a**e."
She fumed: "You’ve made a stupid f***ing decision. You’re going to be crying, Georg and you’re gonna be upset. I’m not an idiot. You will!"
