‘Love Island’ bosses want Jay Munro to be the "new" Tommy Fury.
Fans of the ITV2 dating show were delighted with the 20-year-old boxer over the summer series, and now the 22-year-old former footballer is being lined up for a trip to the villa this winter.
An insider told the Daily Star newspaper: "Jay will be the one all the girls will be chasing. Just like Tommy Fury, he’s a sportsman, in good shape and has dreamy looks."
It’s said Jay was actually in line to appear over the summer, but producers decided to hold him back for the upcoming winter series in January, which is set to be filmed in Cape Town, South Africa.
The retired Scottish sports star initially had plans to be a professional footballer, but after spells with Falkirk as a youth and later full-time deals with Partick Thistle and Queen of the South he decided to call time and focus on being a model.
He has said: "I don’t regret the decision".
The full line-up for the upcoming winter series will be revealed in January, and Caroline Flack will be back as host for the new ‘Love Island’ run.
She recently promised it would be the "hottest" yet, gushing: "I literally cannot wait. It is going to be so hot. Probably the hottest one yet. Cape Town, can you believe it? Love Island’s twice a year now, it’s going to be mad."
Meanwhile, casting agents and talent spotters for the programme have been asked to find an eclectic mix of people to take part in the winter run.
As well as a male virgin, a female stripper and someone related to royalty, it’s said bosses are on the hunt for a rock chick and a surfer dude.
A source said: "It’s no secret that contestants for the show come through a lot of different channels.
"As well as tens of thousands of people applying through ITV’s website this year, the show accepts contestants put forward by talent scouts and agents, and producers approach people on social media too."
