Stacey Dooley has encouraged Louis Theroux to take part in ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ – after he hinted he will be hitting the dance floor next year.
The TV presenter – who won the latest series of the show last weekend – has told her fellow documentary maker that he would "shut down the internet" if he graced the Latin and ballroom programme with his presence, after he joked he is "next".
Louis took to Twitter to congratulate Stacey on her and pro partner Kevin Clifton winning the Glitterball Trophy.
He wrote: "Congrats, @StaceyDooley ! Me next! (JK) (sic)"
Stacey then wrote: "Louis. You waltzing in a sequin shirt, would shut down the internet and send the entire UK into complete euphoria.
2019, GIVE US ALL WHAT WE DESERVE (sic)"
‘Strictly’ look set to approach Louis about being on the next series after a tweet on their official Twitter account merely featured a picture of a phone in response to the 48-year-old filmmaker’s message.
Some fans even encouraged others to start a petition to get Louis on ‘Strictly’ 2019.
One wrote: "PETITION FOR THIS TO BE A THING (sic)"
Another tweeted: "Make this happen"
And one posted: "I’d pay all my money in votes for you to be on strictly. No ifs, no buts. (sic)"
As well as Louis, Stacey was inundated with congratulatory messages from fans, including one from her hometown football club Luton Town.
A message on their official Twitter account read: "Congratulations @StaceyDooley from all at LTFC! Doing Luton proud as the @bbcstrictly champ (sic)"
Stacey beat off competition from Joe Sugg, Ashley Roberts and Faye Tozer to win the competition.
