Lisa George has left ‘Dancing on Ice’.
The ‘Coronation Street’ star and her professional skating partner Tom Naylor was booted out of the ITV show on Sunday night (23.02.20) after facing the skate off alongside Libby Clegg and Mark Hanretty.
When Lisa’s fate was revealed, host Holly Willoughby said: "That little girl that fell all those years ago and never got back on the ice again, look what she has grown up to achieve."
To which Lisa replied: "I know. I’m made up I got this far, to be honest. I’ve had the best time and met the most amazing beautiful people; I couldn’t wish for anything more. Thank you Tom."
And Tom was full of praise for Lisa, who suffered an injury this week.
He added: "It was all Lisa, we only got to train from Thursday [because of her knee injury] so to come in and put all those routines together. Amazing."
All four of the ice panel – Christopher Dean, Jayne Torvill, John Barrowman and Ashley Banjo – opted to save Libby and Mark.
Giving their verdicts, Ashley said: "Lisa, you’ve been really nervous and you came out tonight and gave it your all. Libby, I won’t keep going on about how inspiring you are but you are. I’m going to go for who had the stronger skate off so I think, I’m going to save Libby and Mark."
John added: "I wish you both could go further but we have to choose one and tonight I am going to save Libby and Mark."
Christopher told hosts Philip Schofield and Holly Willoughby: "At this time [in the competition], it really gets down to the nitty and gritty. For me tonight looking at the skating and who handled the pressure, Libby and Mark."
Jane was head judge for the night and whilst she didn’t need to vote because of the clean sweep, she insisted she would have voted for Libby and Mark too, adding: "As Chris said, I was looking at the skating. Libby your skating is smoother, faster and more difficult."
Elsewhere, Perri Kiely and Vanessa Bauer secured the first 10s of the series, putting themselves at the top of the leaderboard with a nearly perfect score of 39.5 out of 40.
Giving his verdict, Ashley said: "My heart is beating so fast. It was magical. There were moments it looked like you were flying rather than skating."
Chris added: "Your skating speaks for itself."
During the show, there was also a new element – the Skate Battle for all five contestants to take part in in the hope of earning more points. The five couples danced to ‘Footloose’ as part of the show’s movie week theme, with Perri and Vanessa taking the top spot, followed by Ben Hanlin in second and Joe Swash in third.
