Lionel Richie doesn’t think he’ll ever be able to top his 2015 Glastonbury set.
The ‘Easy’ hitmaker performed to critical acclaim at the music extravaganza held at Worthy Farm in Somerset, South West England, last June and has just kicked off his ‘All The Hits’ arena tour, but he doesn’t think he’ll be able to "upstage" his legends slot performance and has hailed this tour the "victory lap tour".
Speaking about his current UK arena tour, he said: "You know what this is? This is a victory lap tour, because you cannot ever, in life, upstage Glastonbury.
"That’s like saying, can you go back and recreate Woodstock? No. Glastonbury is one of those thing that’s just a phenomenon."
The 66-year-old singer says it was his "best show ever" for anyone who didn’t see it he doubts they’ll ever have one like again.
Asked what made it so special, he told Metro newspaper: "I mean, did I go by everyone’s house and tell them to put on Lionel Richie make-up? No. Did I tell them to put on the wigs? Did I tell them to bring the butt-naked doll? To bring the canoe? No. It told me the full height of what my fans think of me, and I must tell you I’m in complete laughter to think of it.
"I looked at that audience and I thought: This is the best show ever. For all the people who missed it, OK, we’ll do it again. But it will never be anything like Glastonbury."
