Lily Collins has joined the cast of the monster movie ‘Okja’.
The 27-year-old actress is set to portray an anarchist named Red, a high-ranking member of the Animal Liberation Front, in the forthcoming Korean feature film as she joins Jake Gyllenhaal, Tilda Swinton and Kelly Macdonald in the ranks.
Bill Nighy was initially linked to the flick but was reportedly forced to drop out due to his schedule clashing, while Paul Dano is still checking his diary to see if he’s free for filming.
Brad Pitt will produce the flick, one of the first feature movies in Asia to be backed by Netflix, while Bong Joon-ho – who made ‘Snowpiercer’ for a reported $40 million – will direct.
The details surrounding the plot are being kept tightly under wraps but Joon-ho teased the film won’t be that scary.
He said recently: "It is a bulky animal, but with a mild and kind spirit. The film is about a warm friendship between a country girl and a brute with stories. To me, the crazy world surrounding Okja and the girl looks more like a monster. I want to depict the two characters’ bizarre journey and adventure across the tough world in an original fashion."
The movie will start shooting next month for a planned release in early 2017, according to Empire magazine.
Meanwhile, this is the second project Collins has been tied to in the past two days as she’s also on board to star in Marti Noxon’s directorial debut, ‘To The Bone’.
