Lily Allen is working on new music which is inspired by her split from her husband.
The 31-year-old singer has teamed up with Mark Ronson – her long-time collaborator – for her upcoming album and the producer says she has channelled the heartbreak caused by her separation from Sam Cooper into her lyrics.
He told The Sun newspaper: "We’ve been writing together again on the new record. I feel like they are some of the best songs she’s written. Her voice sounds incredible. The stuff I’m working on is some of her most honest and heartbreaking music ever. She writes so honestly you can feel it."
Lily – who has two daughters, Ethel, four, and Marnie, three, with Sam – hasn’t released an album since 2014’s ‘Sheezus’ and Mark believes the music world needs her to return.
He said: "She’s like a needed performer. There’s nobody really doing s**t like that, really honest."
Lily and Mark have a close friendship and have worked together several times in the past.
Mark, 40, was one of the producers on her 2006 debut album ‘Alright, Still’ and she also collaborated with him on their cover of the Kaiser Chiefs’ song ‘Oh My God’ in 2007.
In 2008, they performed together at Glastonbury and Lily was meant to DJ at the world famous festival on Saturday (25.06.16) but had to pull out due to a knee injury.
She said: "I’m not going to Glastonbury. I have a hole in the back of my kneecap and it’s excruciatingly painful so I don’t think the mud is for me."
