Lil Wayne releases new track

Lil Wayne isn’t retired – and has released new music.
The 33-year-old rap star recently suggested he was set to quit the music industry amid an ongoing feud with the Cash Money record label – but has now released a new record, entitled ‘Grateful’, in a bid to clarify the situation.
On the new track – which references his relationship with Birdman, the co-founder of the label – Wayne says: "You don’t see Stunna right next to me/And I won’t see Stunna write cheques to me/They can’t put no more Weezy baby out/That’s that Cash Money vasectomy."
Later, he adds: "Tell the press I’m not depressed/I just had to press reset."
‘Grateful’ comes shortly after Wayne hinted he was poised to turn his back on rap music in light of his disagreements with Cash Money, his former record label.
He tweeted: "I AM NOW DEFENSELESS AND mentally DEFEATED & I leave gracefully and thankful I luh my fanz but I’m dun (sic)"
The statement prompted messages of support from Wayne’s fans and fellow musicians, such as Drake and Kendrick Lamar.
At the time, it was widely assumed that the Twitter post meant he would no longer make music.
That, however, is clearly not going to be the case after Wayne released ‘Grateful’ exclusively on Tidal.
Wayne has previously spoken about having an ambition to retire by the time he is 35 in order to spend more time with his family.
But it does not appear he will quit the music business any time soon following his new release.
