Liam Gallagher teases Oasis comeback at Reading Festival

Liam Gallagher teased Oasis’ potential reunion during his performance at Reading Festival on Sunday (25.08.24).

The 51-year-old star played Oasis‘ debut studio album, ‘Definitely Maybe’, in full at the festival, while he also gave a shoutout to his brother Noel during the gig.

Before singing ‘Half The World Away’, Liam told the crowd: “I wanna dedicate this song to Noel Gallagher.”

‘Definitely Maybe’ was released on August 29, 1994, and featured a host of hit singles, including ‘Supersonic’, ‘Shakermaker’, and ‘Live Forever’.

The record also become the fastest-selling debut album in British music history at the time.

Oasis split in 2009, following a falling out between Liam and his older brother Noel Gallagher – but the duo are reported to have reunited in recent weeks, and Liam teased a mysterious date towards the end of his set at Reading, when “27.08.24” appeared on a screen behind him.

The same date also appeared on Liam and Noel’s X account, and earlier in the day, the singer dropped another hint about Oasis’ potential comeback.

Liam said on X: “I never did like that word FORMER (sic)”

Oasis split in acrimonious circumstances 15 years ago, when Noel claimed that he couldn’t work with his brother “a day longer”.

Noel said in a statement at the time: “It’s with some sadness and great relief to tell you that I quit Oasis tonight. People will write and say what they like, but I simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer.”

Noel also claimed that he was left with “no other option”.

He said: “The details are not important and of too great a number to list. But I feel you have the right to know that the level of verbal and violent intimidation towards me, my family, friends and comrades has become intolerable. And the lack of support and understanding from my management and band mates has left me with no other option than to get me cape and seek pastures new.”
