Liam Fox’s son’s bullying hell put him off soap star career

Liam Fox and Nicole Barber-Lane’s son was put off a soap star career after he was bullied at school – but he has now set his sights on a role in ‘Coronation Street’ or ‘EastEnders’.
The ‘Emmerdale’ actor and the ‘Hollyoaks’ star’s 18-year-old son Ben Fox initially harboured ambitions to follow in his famous parents’ acting footsteps and even used to help Nicole – who plays Myra McQueen in the Channel 4 soap – learn her lines.
But Ben decided to pursue an engineering career instead after he was targeted by horrid youngsters.
Liam – who plays Dan Spencer in the ITV show – said: "He was doing engineering.
"Even when he was younger he was great at it [acting] because my ex Nicole, who is in ‘Hollyoaks’, would be doing lines and he would be going through lines with her when he was a little kid.
"He was always spot on, but then he’d get a bit of bullying at school and he thought, ‘I don’t want to do it, I kind of want to hide in the background.’
"Now he’s going for it."
And Ben could be set for a stint in Weatherfield or Albert Square, with Liam tipping him to join the cast of his and ex-wife Nicole’s rival soaps as a "young gangster".
When Lorraine Kelly suggested he should be in ‘Coronation Street’ or ‘EastEnders’, Liam replied: "Yeah, why not?
"A bit of a young gangster maybe?"
Liam admitted being a parent has made it "easier" to play his latest big ‘Emmerdale’ storyline, which has seen Dan discover his brother Daz Spencer (Mark Jordon) is in fact the father of Amelia Spencer (Daisy Campbell) rather than him, and following that bombshell she went missing.
Speaking on ‘Lorraine’ about filming a missing person press conference for the soap, Liam added: "It was so emotional, it was incredible.
"And it looked so good. I’m glad it looked as good as it felt.
"Being a parent does make it easier to do a role like this because you just channel it."
Liam and Nicole split in 2015 after 16 years of marriage.
