Leonardo DiCaprio and Jonah Hill to reunite

Leonardo DiCaprio and Jonah Hill will reunite for ‘The Ballad of Richard Jewell’.

The duo, who worked together on Martin Scorsese’s ‘The Wolf Of Wall Street’, will star alongside one another once again to tell the true story of the police officer and security guard who became a suspect in the Olympic Park bombings at the Atlanta 1996 Games.

According to deadline.com, Fox has picked up the rights to the original Vanity Fair article titled ‘American Nightmare: The Ballad of Richard Jewell’ which was written by Marie Brenner, and Hill is tipped to play male lead Richard Jewell while DiCaprio will be his attorney.

The film will be produced by DiCaprio, Hill, Jennifer Davisson Killoran and Kevin Misher.

The story will follow police officer Jewell’s fall from grace after he discovered a backpack containing pipe bombs during the Olympics, and although he sounded the alarms the bomb detonated killing one person and injuring several others.

While he was initially hailed as a hero, he soon became a suspect – the FBI searched his home twice – and although he was later cleared of all charges he failed to redeem himself having been portrayed by the media portrayed as a disgraced officer.

Jewell filed lawsuit against a string of news outlets, while the FBI and other government agencies were forced to apologise.
