Laura Whitmore ‘cannot stand because of ankle injury’

Laura Whitmore cannot stand up because of the ankle injury that forced her to pull out of Saturday night’s (22.10.16) ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The 31-year-old beauty withdrew from the programme after being advised by the show’s doctors to rest her injured joint – and an insider has now revealed the extent of Laura’s problem.
A source explained to the Sunday Mirrror newspaper: "She’s seen two physios and two medics over the past 24 hours and at 4.15pm today show bosses took the decision she could not perform.
"It is really inflamed. She’s had to keep it elevated and she’s being given pain killers.
"She is absolutely gutted. She’s been in floods of tears because she was so excited to be performing."
Laura was set to perform her jive with partner Giovanni Pernice but announced she was pulling out of the programme on Twitter.
She wrote: "Absolutely Devastated… It was a decision taken out of my hands. If it was my choice, I’d be on the dance floor doing my jive with Gio. This was by far my favourite dance. We all train really hard. All of us dancing, have aches and pains and I didn’t realise the severity of my injury until it was too late. I’m sorry to let you all down. (sic)"
As a result of the injury, Laura was given a bye through to next week, when she hopes to be able to return.
A ‘Strictly’ statement said: "Laura Whitmore will not perform on tonight’s ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ due to an ankle injury sustained earlier in the week.
"She has been checked by a doctor and the medical team on site and they have advised that she rests her ankle and does not dance this weekend.
"As per the rules of ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ – because Laura and Giovanni cannot dance on tonight’s show – they will receive a bye through to next week and the show will continue with a public vote as per usual."
