La La Land stars left red-faced after Oscars Best Picture mix-up

The 2017 Oscars didn’t go down without any glitches on Sunday night (26.02.17), as the winner of the coveted Best Picture award was initially read out as ‘La La Land’, when in fact it was ‘Moonlight’.
Emma Stone and her co-stars Ryan Gosling and John Legend were left red-faced when veteran actor Warren Beatty mistakenly announced the winner of the night’s most prestigious honour had gone to the musical – which had been favourite to take the accolade – only for the acceptance speeches to be interrupted and the real winner revealed.
However, ‘La La Land’ scooped an impressive six prizes at the ceremony held at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, including Best Actress for Emma Stone and Best Director for Damien Chazelle.
The musical film won prizes for cinematography and production design, Best Original Song for ‘City of Stars’ and Best Original Score.
Other winners on the night included Viola Davis, who made history as the first black actress to win at the Oscars, Emmy and Tony Awards.
The 51-year-old star picked up the Best Supporting Actress prize for her role in ‘Fences’.
Here are the highlights straight from the red carpet at the star-studded event…
