Kym Marsh’s heart-pounding Coronation Street wake ups

Kym Marsh used to wake up at 3am with her "heart pounding" when she was filming her ‘Coronation Street’ baby loss storyline.
The 42-year-old actress’ character Michelle Connor’s son Ruairi was born prematurely at just 23 weeks last year and sadly died, and the star can relate to her former co-star Catherine Tyldesley (Eva Price) after she felt tired while shooting her recent emotional exit.
Kym said: "Catherine Tyldesley has said that she found her final scenes very draining because she was crying all the time, and I can totally relate to how she felt.
"When I filmed the baby loss storyline last year it was incredibly hard.
"I would wake up at 3am and my heart would be pounding and I felt exhausted all the time."
Kym also felt "very drained" while shooting the baby loss scenes – which saw Michelle struggle to cope with the little one’s death, while the youngster’s dad Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) tried to conceal his grief – but she had to go through all the emotions to make the plot look "authentic".
Writing in her OK! magazine column, she added: "Your body doesn’t know that you’re acting and, when you’re filming something like that, you have to go through the emotions to make it authentic.
"It can be very draining."
Kym’s comments come after Catherine recently admitted she found it tough filming such emotionally-charged ‘Corrie’ scenes leading up to her exit.
Reflecting on the difficult scenes, she told BANG Showbiz: "It is tiring, because obviously you have to go there to make it believable, so your nervous system doesn’t necessarily understand that you’re only pretending, so it is tiring, but I think you’ve just got to look after yourself and try and laugh as much in between.
"Shayne Ward (Aidan Connor) was always good for that."
