Kym Marsh had to go to hospital after her dog scratched her in the eye.
The ‘Coronation Street’ actress – who plays Michelle Connor on the ITV soap – revealed her puppy Rico accidentally scratched her and now she may be left with a permanent conjunctival cyst.
She wrote in her OK! magazine column: "As many of you know, I’ve got a little chihuahua puppy named Rico. He’s very playful and likes to stroke your face with his paws. But he accidentally pawed my eye.
"After being sat in the waiting room for hours and hours, I was the last patient to be seen! The staff were fantastic.
"They diagnosed me with a conjunctival cyst and gave me steroid drops, but warned me the cyst may never go away, which is scary.
"You take your eyes for granted so it’s really nerve-wracking when something like this happens. I’ve just got my fingers crossed that the drops will work."
Meanwhile, Kym is one of a number of stars to quit ‘Corrie’ this year but said she can’t wait to see what the soap has in store for the future.
She said: "Whichever actors are involved in it, ‘Coronation Street’ will continue to be a big, brilliant show. There’s no ‘crisis’.
"It’s just natural that a show like ‘Corrie’ will have comings and goings – just like you would on any real-life street in the UK.
"I personally can’t wait to see which new faces might be turning up on the cobbles."
Kym has already set about planning for her future away from Weatherfield after she and former ‘Hollyoaks’ star Gerard McCarthy penned the first episode of their new sitcom, ‘Life Begins’.
She said: "Speaking of new projects, you may have seen that I recently revealed how I’m co-creating a new sitcom, called ‘Life Begins’, with Gerard McCarthy, who has appeared in The Fall and Hollyoaks.
"I’m so excited about it and we’ve written the first episode – I’ll keep you posted."
