Kym Marsh up against ‘tough’ actresses at British Soap Awards

Kym Marsh thinks she’s up against some "tough" competition in the Best Actress category at the British Soap Awards.
The ‘Coronation Street’ star has been nominated for the prestigious trophy at this year’s forthcoming event, held in Manchester, for her portrayal of Michelle McDonald in the long-running soap and has admitted it’ll be amazing if she does bag the win because she’s going head-to-head with some incredible talents.
Speaking on ‘Lorraine’ on Thursday (20.04.17), she explained: "It’s going to be a tough one [the award show]. Not to mention all the others that are nominated in the same category. Let the best woman win."
Kym’s nomination comes just weeks after she was praised for her portrayal of her stillborn storyline in which her alter ego tragically gave birth to her son Rory at 23 weeks.
The heartbreaking storyline was particularly difficult for the 40-year-old beauty as the scenes mirrored a similar tragedy she and her ex-husband Jamie Lomas experienced in 2009.
The then-couple tragically lost their son Archie just minutes after he was born prematurely at 21 weeks eight years ago.
She said: "Obviously there were times when I was transported back to a time that I’ve tried to get away from but when I was approached about the story I was told there was no way that I had to do the storyline."
Meanwhile, Kym is up against her co-stars Jane Danson (Leanne Battersby) and Lucy Fallon (Bethany Platt) for Best Actress, as well EastEnders’ Lacey Turner, Hollyoaks’ Anna Passey and Coronation Street’s Zoe Henry.
