Kym Marsh ‘so pleased’ with Charles Lawson’s return

Kym Marsh is "so pleased" Charles Lawson has returned to the ‘Coronation Street’ set.
The 42-year-old actress – who plays Michelle Connor in the ITV soap – has spotted her co-star back at the Manchester-based soap’s studios recently, and she can’t wait to see his character Jim McDonald on the small screen again.
She said: "Veteran Corrie actor Charlie Lawson, who plays Jim McDonald, is set to return to the cobbles soon and I’m so pleased because his character is brilliant.
"I’ve seen Charlie around the set and it’s lovely to have him back."
Kym is also pleased to see Charles off screen, and revealed her parents have got to know him well over the years.
Writing in her OK! magazine column, Kym added: "It’s been seven years since he last worked on the show as his character’s been in prison, but I’ve got to know him well over the years and my mum and dad also know him.
"He’s a lovely guy, so I’m happy he’s back in Weatherfield."
Kym recently revealed she and Charles are such good friends he gets away with calling her "Swampy", because her surname is a synonym of a swamp.
She said: "I’ve always got on brilliantly with Charlie, he calls me Swampy because swamp is another word for marsh, like my surname.
"It’s an affectionate nickname, though."
Charles was last seen on ‘Corrie’ in 2014 when he illegally sold Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne) alcohol in prison, and his sentence – which was originally for a bank robbery – was extended after he used a mobile phone to phone his wife Liz McDonald (Beverley Callard).
