Kym Marsh says none of the ‘Coronation Street’ cast "care" how much each of them earn.
The 42-year-old actress has played Michelle Connor on the ITV soap since 2006, and she claims wages are not a big talking point in the ‘Corrie’ green room between her and her fellow Weatherfield residents.
She said: "There were reports last week that stated that Jack P Shepherd was the highest paid actor on ‘Corrie’, but we don’t talk about how much we earn at work.
"In the past I’ve read I earn a different amount to what I actually do. No one knows and, actually, no one cares!"
But one thing Kym does care about is that she is going to be a "’Corrie’ grandma" following the news her on-screen son James Burrows’ girlfriend Sophie Coates is expecting the couple’s first child.
She added: "Congratulations to James Burrows, who plays my on-screen son Ali Neeson. He’s expecting his first child with his girlfriend Sophie, which means I’m going to be an honorary ‘Corrie’ grandma.
"He’s absolutely over the moon and I’m so happy for them both. I he’ll make a brilliant daddy and I can’t wait to meet his little one."
Kym is also a big fan of hanging out with her own kids, David, 23, and Emilie, 20 – who she has with former partner Dave Cunliffe – and partied with them until the early hours last weekend following The Emerald Ball at Manchester’s Hilton.
The ‘Corrie’ actress – who also has seven-year-old daughter Polly, who she shares with her ex-husband, ‘Hollyoaks’ star Jamie Lomas – wrote in her OK! magazine column: "I love socialising with my kids – they’re like my mates and I have great fun with them.
"It was quite a late night as we all went back to our hotel to carry on the party.
"Antony Cotton and his partner Peter also came along. We ordered pizza and had a few drinks – we didn’t call it a night until about 3am."
