Kym Marsh has confirmed her split from Matt Baker.
The 41-year-old actress and her 27-year-old boyfriend were reported over the weekend to have separated after two years of dating, and Kym has now confirmed the news, adding the pair "still care for each other".
Speaking in this week’s OK! Magazine, Kym said: "Sadly, the reports are true.
"We still care for each other, we’ll stay friends and I’m sure we’ll be a part of each other’s lives in the future.
"Now we each just want to focus on our families, our work and our friends as we move forward."
The ‘Coronation Street’ star – who has 23-year-old David and 21-year-old Emily with former partner Dave Cunliffe, as well as Polly, seven, with ex-husband Jamie Lomas – was first reported to have split from Matt this weekend, when it was reported that pressure piled on by their decision to splash out £500,000 on a lovenest for themselves just two months ago caused a rift in their romance.
A source said at the time: "They wanted this to work out and have spent weeks trying to work through the issues but, sadly, it just wasn’t to be.
"In the end, they both agreed it was for the best that they go their separate ways despite buying a house together so recently."
It was also reported that their careers played a part in their separation, with personal trainer Matt working hard on opening a new restaurant, and Kym putting in long hours on set.
The insider added: "Matt has been working on opening a new restaurant while Kym does very long hours on set with Coronation Street – while also being a committed mum to her children.
"The pressure of moving proved to be the straw that broke the camel’s back but they’re determined to keep things civilised.
"It has just been a very upsetting period for everyone involved."
At the time of the initial reports, a spokesperson for Kym confirmed the news.
They said: "Sadly, we can confirm Kym and Matt have made the decision to take some time apart but remain friends."
