Kym Marsh ‘concerned’ about schools reopening

Kym Marsh is "concerned" about schools reopening until it is "100 per cent safe to do so".

The former ‘Coronation Street’ actress has admitted she wouldn’t want her nine-year-old daughter Polly’s teachers to be "forced back to work too soon" if schools open up again, amid the coronavirus lockdown.

Writing in her OK! magazine column, she said: "As a parent, I’m naturally concerned about schools re-opening and sending children back unless it’s 100 per cent safe to do so.

"Polly’s teachers have been amazing with her homeschooling and I have a newfound respect for them.

"I certainly wouldn’t want her teachers to be forced back to work too soon and have their health put at risk."

Kym’s comments come after prime minister Boris Johnson recently told parents and teachers to prepare for the phased re-opening of schools in England from June 1st.

Former ‘Corrie’ star Kym recently admitted she has found home schooling "tough".

Speaking last month, she said: "While I miss her so much when she’s away, I do get a tiny break from home schooling.

"I’m finding that so tough, as I know many parents are.

"Polly struggles with learning from home as she doesn’t have the same environment and routine she has at school.

"Once Scott is back from his tour of Afghanistan next month, he can help me out."

And Kym said she would feel "nervous" sending her daughter to school if they reopen before the summer holidays.

She said: "It was revealed last week that teachers are demanding clarity from the government over claims that schools could reopen before the summer holidays, and not in September like originally thought.

"As a parent, the idea of sending my daughter Polly back to school so soon makes me nervous. Is that the safe thing to do?"
